It took a long time for the Willems report to be published: exactly three years. Some ten days ago, the report was presented to the Registry of the Joint Court of Justice. Let’s just say that judicial mills grind slowly. Is the report also ‘too little’? Not in volume: over four hundred pages, excluding the annexes. And the content? Hard to say at this point; the report is not (yet) public. The media seem to be in possession of the report though (we live in Cura?ao!). Apparently, the report paints a picture of a few outrageously clumsy people (particularly Schotte and Van der Dijs), who let hundreds of millions of guilders ‘evaporate’ at the expense of our community, together with the supervisory directors of Aqualectra and RdK and assisted by their consultants. The Willems report is not a judgment. Whether mismanagement indeed occurred at Aqualectra, RdK and Curoil has to be determined by the Court of Justice. And then what? In order to judge that, it first has to be clear how this report fits into the current inquiry proceedings. Read more...
